This talk will focus on the springs that formerly flowed in Carshalton…

and will examine their influence upon the development of the village and surrounding area. The history of Carshalton Ponds will be discussed as will the early 18th century landscaping undertaken in Carshalton Park. The equally ambitious landscaping that was undertaken at this time in what is now St Philomena’s School will also be illustrated. The presentation will conclude with photographs taken during the exceptionally wet winter of 2013/14 when the springs flowed once again.
