At the turn of the 20th century, Frank Dickinson and his fiancée Florence, dreamed of having a house of their own: ‘One that was solid, but not showy…and with beautiful things inside.’ Inspired by the philosophies of William Morris, and drawn to the area by the words of John Ruskin, the young couple made their dream come true when Frank designed and built their home on Beechnut Tree Avenue, Carshalton Beeches, between 1902-1904.
