A talk by Louisa Alessandra Pini, Holistic & Clinical Aromatherapist.
Ask somebody what they think lavender oil can be used for and aiding restful sleep is likely to be at the top of the list, but it has some surprising other benefits too. Louisa will give a snapshot about the heritage of the area and the different types of lavender oil (local Carshalton lavender Oil and true lavender oil). The main focus of the session will be on some of the more surprising benefits of lavender oil. The talk will finish with a mini meditation.
This is an exciting opportunity to discover an important local industry and its cultural significance.

We welcome Jill Whitehead to speak this evening: The Dukes family lived in Jill’s house in Carshalton from 1946 to 1993, having arrived from Vienna in 1939/40 escaping the Nazis.
They owned a successful agricultural foodstuffs company operating out of Bratislava, Vienna and Budapest pre -war, and their family members included an eminent Freudian psychologist. Jill looks at the family’s past life pre-WW2, how WW2 changed everything, and how Helen Dukes and her parents and cousin escaped to Britain and their very different lives post war in South London.
