Discover the inspiration behind this new fully-illustrated booklet of Carshalton

This beautiful book of drawings was inspired by… er… Secret Carshalton. The guide was compiled by local student, Frankie, 18, who is studying art at the prestigious Central St Martins.

What made her choose Carshalton: “I live in Carshalton and like geography, but didn’t know much about the area. I was possibly going to do art based on The Wandle because I live nearby.”

Frankie interviewed Secret Carshalton as part of the research, and we were pleased to be asked. The text is based on what we discussed. Take a look at some more of the wonderful illustrations used for the book:

An illustrated map of Carshalton
A local street lamp (and the Secret Carshalton social logo)
The story of Oaks Park and the Flamingo

Just 10 booklets have been printed, and you can see more of Frankie’s work via Instagram @franz.artz – give her a follow.
