*Historical* As far as we know, for the first time ever, this grand little building in Carshalton will be open to the public – as part of London’s Open House Festival 2024. You’ll find it in the garden of Bramblehaw Cottage. The Summerhouse was built at the turn of the last century.
This building stood on the lawn of the grand Bramblehaw House (now demolished). At this time the house was lived in by architect R Frank Atkinson who most likely designed the Summerhouse.

Bramblehaw House was demolished in the 1920s. This is what we know of Bramblehaw (link includes map and more photos).
Frank Atkinson designed the old library in The Square, Carshalton. Here is more about the old library.

The Summerhouse will be open on Sunday 15 September, between 10.30am and 1.30pm. Details here. The address is Bramblehaw Cottage, 40 Westcroft Road, Carshalton, SM5 2TG.
