A short 10 minute drive* from Carshalton brings you to historic Chipstead Village. There’s Elmore pond by the recreation ground. The White Hart pub dates dates back to the 1770s. A short walk further are the picturesque Shabden cottages built in the 1870s for workers on the Shabden estate, and listed in the 1980s. Shabden House still stands (old pics) but is now split up into private flats.
Opposite is an old well house, built around the same time to provide fresh water for estate workers.
Further along is Shabden Park Farm with beautiful country walks (and black sheep).
“Shabden Park is a 103-hectare nature reserve in Chipstead in Surrey. It is owned by Surrey County Council and managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust and is part of the Chipstead Downs Site of Special Scientific Interest.” Wikipedia

Enjoyed this walk on a winter’s day. Pretty village, enquisitive sheep, lovely views.
