This free must-see exhibition will unearth untold stories from the orphanage which was housed at Carew Manor in Beddington Park for nearly a century, from 1866 – 1939. Visit to find out about the history of Carew and St Mary’s Church as well as the daily life for girls in an orphanage in the Victorian times and up to the start of the Second World War. Showcasing never-before-seen archival documents and historic objects with oral history recollections from direct descendants of those who attended, this exhibition will share stories of a forgotten chapter in Carew’s history and bring the girls’ memories to life. This initiative forms part of the Restoring and Celebrating the Art and Craftsmanship of St Mary’s Church, Beddington, a project supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Honeywood Museum is open 10:00 to 17:00 Thursday, Friday and Saturday Entrance is free and donations are gratefully received

Staycation Live 2022 – Surrey’s fastest growing music festival
Approaching its 10th anniversary event, Staycation Live is Godalming’s premier community festival, back for 2022, and will be held over the 5th – 7th of August. Bigger and better than ever, Staycation Live is one of Surrey’s fastest growing music and arts festivals, with an ethos for showcasing a broad range of music, local food and entertainment.
The festival has brought many great and diverse acts to Godalming over the two stages set in picturesque Phillips Memorial Park and you can expect more of the same this year with an eclectic mix of acts and bands ranging from folk to funk, electro swing to folk and ska to hip-hop.
Staycation Live 2022 couldn’t take place if it wasn’t for the support we receive from the public so please support the event and our chosen charity by donating upon entry to the festival on the day over the weekend.
Staycation Live can only happen with your generosity!
Please remember; Staycation Live is run by three local residents who started it 12 years ago because they wanted to give the people of Godalming something fun to do in their town. We’ve never sold tickets as we want the weekend to be open to anyone that would like to attend.
All we ask is that, if you’re able, you put a donation in the buckets on the way in. The festival has grown and it has become more and more expensive to put on (the first year probably cost us £50 and this year will likely cost at least 750 times that!), and we try and make it better and better every year, but we can only do that with your help.
If you can afford it, this year we’re asking for £10 per adult but we’re more than happy with whatever you can afford! If you’ve got nothing to put in the bucket then we still want to see you in the park!
And don’t forget, we donate 25% of the collection each year to our chosen charity – with your help we’ve donated over £18000 to some great causes over the years.
We look forward to seeing you again for our 10 year anniversary event!

This online talk will focus on the work Sean manages for the Downlands Partnership Grazing team, that consists of two staff, 200 sheep, 12 cattle and 10 goats. They carry out grazing on 24 sites across the North Downs, with the aim of conserving and restoring Chalk Downland habitat. This is achieved by working in partnership with their stakeholders including local authorities, charities, community groups and landowners. They deliver both the grazing service in terms of animals and also helping to monitor the sites, carrying out regular visits and offering expertise on the grazing regimes that will best suit the objectives for the grassland.
