Sutton Council will collect old cables, mobiles and small electrical items for FREE

Did you know Sutton Council is offering a useful collection service for small electrical items? You have an easier and more environmentally friendly way to dispose of those old electrical items lurking at the back of your cupboard.

The online-booking service ensures items can be disposed of safely. A recent TikTok campaign by the council explained that there was a risk of fires in their collection lorries.

This means that rather than putting certain items in bin liners in the brown bin, domestic properties can arrange a collection. Residents are allowed up to seven items per registration.

You can already leave batteries out with your plastic waste, but additional electrical items are eligible for a special collection.

These include old cables, small DVD players, extension leads, fans, games consoles and controllers, kettles, lamps, vapes and more. View a fuller list here (link working at time of posting this story).

The council will not take anything bigger than a two-slice toaster; larger items will need to be booked as bulky waste or taken to the recycling centre.
