The Greyhound name could date back as far as the 16th Century as it’s thought the name of the building is derived from the Gaynesford family.
They owned the land the pub is built on, and lived in the nearby Stone Court (in The Grove).
Their coat of arms featured three greyhounds. More on the Gaynesfords.
