An afternoon walk in Battersea Park and remnants of the Festival of Britain exhibition

*Walks* We’ve gone a little bit Wes Anderson in the style of our photos for this stroll in Battersea.

This is a wonderfully varied place that was created in 1854 and officially opened by Queen Victoria in 1858.

This South London park is about 40 minutes by car from Carshalton, but it’s much more efficient getting a direct train.

The loop around the park is 2 miles but you can zigzag in and out exploring, for example, the boating and wildlife lake, pegoda, exhibition area, zoo or sub-tropical garden – so building up your step count.

There’s plenty of maps up within the park, so it’s easy to find your way around. Here’s some photos for your perusal:

I grew up a very short walk from this park. I can still picture every little corner of a fabulous park where I spent most of my childhood. So much has gone in particular the funfair, grotto, guiness clock, tree walk, easter parade, paddling pools and so much more. But it’s still a great visit with the kid’s zoo, recumbent bikes and playgrounds – although the once brilliant adventure playground has been largely annexed by Go Ape unfortunately.
