A 30 minute drive from Carshalton brings you to a short circular walk around Outwood Common in Redhill. It’s very muddy after rain so wellies are essential.
Use the free national trust car park opposite the picturesque old windmill (Britain’s oldest working windmill no less) and follow the signposted walk.
A map is provided below.
Also stopped briefly at the Wray Common windmill in nearby Reigate, now converted into a private home. There’s a Reigate Heath windmill too, now a small Chapel (not pictured, but covered in the past on our instagram feed).
🗝 Finally, towards the end of the day a stop at the British Wildlife Centre. We timed it right as we spotted Weasels (tiny), Stoats, Pine Martens, Otters (in lovely natural surroundings), Badgers, Scottish Wildcat, plus several more indigenous species. Worth a trip if you’re into wildlife.
