*News* This is the Blue Room at Canons House in Mitcham, in the London Borough of Merton. Secret Carshalton recently took a public guided tour of this fascinating old home. The house was built circa 1680 and the wood panelling survives from this period. The wooden staircase is also dated to this era (scroll down for pics).
🗝 The home was owned continously by the Cramner family until it was sold to the council in the 1930s. The renovation was completed in 2021, and the house is Grade 2* listed.

🗝 The house is named after religious people that originally farmed the land the house is built on.
🗝 The house is a 20 minute drive from Carshalton and there’s a leisure centre car park you can use next door – if you’re not travelling by public transport. Look out for open days.
I’m sure we’ll be hearing about this building again, as more history and old photos are discovered.
