Winter flu rates on rise in Sutton borough

Are you concerned about the latest spike in flu rates across the UK? Across Epsom Hospital and St Helier hospital in Carshalton, as of Sunday there are believed to be 20 people admitted with flu. This is thought to be 3.2% of the available 621 critical care beds.

This is a 0.7% increase on the week before, where 16 people were admitted with flu.

Nationally, the trend sees cases continue to rise across the UK, and people with flu-like symptoms are asked to consider wearing masks in confined public spaces, to help curb potential spread. Other ways to help stop the spread include coughing into your elbow, and regularly washing hands.

Not all data may be accurately provided by each hospital, and these stats are calculated by the BBC based on publicly available data.
