This is part of an historic preserved wall that’s over 500 years old and can be found hidden behind some carpets in Sutton High Street.

This structure forms the party wall between Boots Chemist and Tapi Carpets (formerly Clarks shoes) at 101 – 103 High Street.

It is unclear what type of building the flint and chalk wall was built for, but its proximity to St Nicholas Church suggests it may have had religious connections.

The current St Nicholas church is of Victorian origin, but records suggest a church has been on this site since at least 1087.

The tudor wall was Grade 2 listed in 1989. It sits on Reigate stone and is just over 2 metres in height.
There are three lengths of wall surviving, but only two parts were visible when we visited.

We made a video about it (link here from Secret Carshalton Tik Tok). Note: We meant to say Tudor, not Medieval.
